Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate closure of the Secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses (SFGH) in the FCT.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the Minister also approved the creation of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to handle matters relating to the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT, a responsibility previously undertaken by the defunct committee.
The FCT Administration explained that although the Ad-hoc Committee had completed its assignments, its Secretariat was retained to address issues arising from the committee’s activities.
However, with the formal closure of the Secretariat, members of the public have been advised to direct all enquiries and matters relating to the sale of Federal Government houses to the Department of Land Administration.
The FCTA also warned residents to be wary of fraudsters who may continue to parade themselves as staff, officers or members of the dissolved committee and its Secretariat.
It stressed that the Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses and its Secretariat no longer exist, urging the public to avoid dealings with unauthorised individuals claiming affiliation with the defunct body.
