2027: Momodu Predicts Obi’s Strong Challenge to Tinubu in South-East, South-South

By Jelili Gbadamosi

Dele Momodu, A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has predicted that Peter Obi could defeat President Bola Tinubu in the South-East and parts of the South-South during the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the prediction on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he discussed the political challenges confronting Tinubu ahead of the next general election.

He argued that Tinubu would face a difficult contest in parts of southern Nigeria, warning that Obi’s performance in the South-East and South-South could pose a significant threat to the president’s re-election bid.

According to Momodu, Tinubu would need to secure strong support across the three southern regions to improve his chances of victory, while also competing for votes in the North.

The ADC chieftain further alleged that Tinubu prioritises Lagos over the interests of the Yoruba people generally, adding that some individuals within the president’s political circle would not want his administration to continue.

Momodu maintained that economic and social challenges were affecting Nigerians across the country, regardless of their region.

He noted that the Yoruba people were experiencing hardship similar to that faced by residents of the North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-East and South-South.

His comments come as political parties and potential contenders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
