The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure 2027 general election.

CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police, gave the assurance during a strategic visit to the Ogun State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Feyijimi Saseyi.

During the visit, CP Ojajuni toured the INEC premises and discussed security arrangements for personnel, facilities and electoral materials ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Describing INEC as a critical institution in Nigeria’s democratic process, the Commissioner emphasized the need for sustained cooperation between the Police and the Commission.

“From now until the end of the 2027 General Elections, the INEC office will become our second office,” Ojajuni declared.

He explained that the command’s preparations would focus on intelligence-led policing, early threat assessment, effective information sharing, and coordinated deployment to protect electoral officials, voters, election materials, and facilities. He stressed that all security operations would be conducted professionally, impartially, and in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner also recalled the security workshop earlier organised by the Command in Abeokuta for security agencies and relevant stakeholders as part of preparations for the 2027 elections, noting that INEC participated in the engagement.

In her response, Mrs Saseyi appreciated the Commissioner’s visit and reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to working with the Police and other stakeholders.

“On our part, we will also be open, transparent and committed to this assignment so that, at the end of it all, we will achieve free, fair, transparent and credible elections,” she said.

CP Ojajuni urged political parties, candidates, supporters, and other stakeholders to respect the law, shun violence and intimidation, and refrain from any conduct capable of undermining the electoral process.

He encouraged residents to report credible security concerns promptly through the nearest police station or established communication channels while avoiding the spread of unverified information.

The Command assured residents of continued collaboration with INEC, other security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to promote public safety and support a peaceful electoral process.
