Police Warn Against Forceful Takeover of Osun LG Areas

The Osun State Police Command has cautioned individuals and groups against any attempt to forcefully take over the affairs or premises of Local Government Areas in the state, stressing that such action could threaten the prevailing peace.

This was disclosed In a statement by DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, Police Public Relations Officer, says the Commissioner of Police (Election), Samuel Etaifo Erale had received reports of plans by some individuals or groups to forcefully assume control of Local Government Areas, despite the matter being before the court.

The Police clarify that no individual, political group, or association has the right to resort to self-help or use force to take control of any Local Government Area or public institution while judicial proceedings are ongoing.

The command urges all parties involved to exercise restraint and allow the courts to determine the matter in accordance with the law.

It warns that any attempt to forcibly occupy or disrupt local government facilities would be treated as a serious breach of the peace, with offenders liable to arrest and prosecution.

The Police also call on parents, community, and traditional leaders, political and youth leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to counsel their supporters against actions capable of undermining peace and security in the state.
