Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, of Ondo State has approved the appointment of Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, with effect from April 25, 2026.
The appointment follows the retirement of the former Rector, Adegun Simeon Olurunwa, on April 24, 2026.
Engr. Lawson, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology, holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology. He is also a registered engineer with over 25 years of experience in the Nigerian polytechnic system.
He has held several administrative positions within the institution, including Deputy Rector, Director of Works, and Head of Department. Until his new appointment, he served as the Deputy Rector of the Polytechnic.
A native of Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Engr. Lawson is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role.
