The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has concluded arrangements to hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on May 11, 2026, in Abuja.

The meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium and is expected to bring together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

According to a statement by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the annual policy meeting remains a crucial platform where stakeholders deliberate and decide on minimum admissible scores for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), as well as guidelines and policies for admissions into tertiary institutions.

The statement noted that the 2026 meeting would feature the unveiling of key policy directions by the Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, setting the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.

It added that the meeting would also reinforce the need for strict compliance with established admission guidelines among institutions.

Participants expected at the meeting include Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Registrars and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country.

Regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education are also expected to attend.

Other stakeholders, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, will deliver goodwill messages at the event.

Also scheduled as part of the programme is the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, which recognises institutions that have demonstrated strict adherence to admission guidelines and contributed to the development of tertiary education in Nigeria.

The Board emphasised that the meeting remains pivotal to ensuring transparency, standardisation and quality in the nation’s admission process.
