Maduka University has denied allegations that it refused to release the official transcript of a medical student, accusing the student’s mother of spreading misleading information on social media.

In a statement dated May 22, 2026, the university said it was responding to a viral video made by a parent and content creator, Mrs. Chika Akhigbe, over claims surrounding the release of her daughter’s transcript from the institution’s Department of Medicine and Surgery.
According to the university, the student’s father was informed by the Registrar that the transcript could only be sent directly to another institution in line with standard academic procedures.
The institution explained that the parents had yet to provide the name and address of the university where the transcript should be forwarded.
“The father of the student stated that the official transcript was needed to enable them search for another university for their daughter. However, university official transcripts are sent only to designated institutions and not released directly to individuals,” the statement noted.
The university also dismissed claims that it demanded unjustified fees for transcript processing, stating that transcript charges remain part of institutional policy and global academic practice.
Maduka University further alleged that the student’s father admitted he could not pay the prescribed transcript processing fee and later threatened legal and public action over the matter.
The institution also refuted claims by the student’s mother that all tuition fees had been paid, alleging that the family still owed N500,000 out of the N3.5 million school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to the statement, the university had not received any payment for transcript processing as of May 21, 2026.
The management additionally denied allegations that tuition fees for returning medical students had been increased to N4.5 million, clarifying that the approved fee, including accommodation, for the 2026/2027 academic session stands at N4,010,000.
The university also described as false claims that the student was the best-performing in her class and allegations of insecurity on campus.
“At no point did the Vice-Chancellor handle or discuss the official transcript matter with the student’s parents,” the statement added, noting that all transcript-related issues were handled strictly through the Registrar’s office.
Maduka University accused the parent of attempting to tarnish its image through what it described as “calumny and character defamation” aimed at pressuring the institution into bypassing official procedures.
The institution reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, due process and academic standards, urging members of the public to rely on verified information from official university channels.
