Police Rescue 66-year-old Kidnap Victim in Edo

The Police, in collaboration with other agencies, rescued a 66-year-old kidnapped victim, identified as Emmanuel Obareki, in the remote forest of Ibeakuma, Edo State.

The Edo State Police Command disclosed that the victim, who was kidnapped together with his wife, before the wife was earlier rescued, was abducted and taken into the forest. The Police said that a coordinated operation by the intelligence unit tracked the location and mounted surveillance where the kidnappers were about to collect the ransom.

ASP Eno Ikoedem, PPRO of the Command, narrated that police operatives, men of the Nigerian Army, as well as the Edo State Security Corps and local vigilantes, moved into the area and successfully rescued the victim unhurt, including recovering the ransom money.

The police said some of the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds, adding the security operatives intensify the search for the fleeing kidnappers.
