The Police have arrested two suspected cultists in possession of two locally made pistols and ammunition following a cult related incident that claimed the life of a suspected cult member at Amasoma community, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The suspects, according to Musa Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command were arrested when one Ebube Jonathan, a 200-level student of Management Science Niger Delta University, was attacked along Kabaka Street with Machete and shot, before he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
According to the police, a swift follow up by operatives attached to the Amasoma Division led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Godswin Adobu and Tarila Fesingha, who are both students of the Niger Delta University Amasoma on their way to avenge the death of their gang member.
The Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, CP Daniel Iyamah, reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating cultism and other violent crimes across the state. He warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
