The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges in a follow-up operation targeting criminals operating across the state.

The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Adeyinka Onakomaya and 48-year-old Olayiwola Kehinde, were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Robbery Team over their alleged involvement in armed robbery, carjacking and unlawful possession of firearms.
The operation followed the recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix linked to an armed robbery incident reported in April 2026.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Anti-Robbery Team sustained tactical intelligence gathering and follow-up investigations after the initial recovery of the vehicle.
The operatives subsequently traced the suspects to their respective hideouts in the Babaode area along Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State, and the Command area of Lagos State, where they were arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, alongside other members of their gang, allegedly masterminded the April robbery incident and participated in a series of armed robbery operations and violent vehicle snatchings across Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan areas of Ogun State.
A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges.
The police said the suspects confessed during interrogation to their alleged involvement in various armed robbery operations in the region and were providing useful information to detectives as the investigation continues.
The Command said efforts had been intensified to identify and arrest other fleeing members of the suspected syndicate for possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Robbery Team for its tenacity, operational efficiency and commitment to follow-up investigations.
Ojajuni said the recovery of the firearms and arrest of key members of the suspected syndicate demonstrated the Command’s determination to ensure that criminal investigations were pursued to their logical conclusion.
He assured residents that the Command remained committed to dismantling armed robbery networks and making Ogun State unsafe for criminal elements.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and support the police by reporting suspicious persons, movements and activities in their communities through the Gateway Shield toll-free lines
