Aiyedatiwa Approves N1.1bn Intervention Fund for AAUA to Clear Salary Arrears

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the release of N1.1 billion as a Special Intervention Fund for the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko to offset outstanding salary arrears owed to members of staff.

The approval, announced on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, is aimed at resolving the prolonged industrial dispute at the institution and restoring normal academic activities.

According to the statement, the intervention underscores the Aiyedatiwa administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and improving workers’ welfare across the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa directed the Ondo State Ministry of Finance and the university management to ensure the immediate release and transparent disbursement of the funds to the beneficiaries.

He also appealed to the various staff unions in the institution to suspend their ongoing strike and resume work in the interest of students and the continued development of the university.

The governor noted that the intervention reflects his administration’s conviction that a motivated workforce is essential to building a globally competitive university capable of meeting the demands of the 21st century.

The N1.1 billion intervention is expected to bring relief to affected workers while paving the way for the resolution of the industrial crisis that has disrupted academic activities at the institution.
