The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected hard drug retailer, recovering large quantities of illicit Drugs and a locally made firearm in Effurun, Delta State.
Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Delta State Command, in a statement, narrated that two masked suspects, armed with a locally made shotgun, broke into the residence of a 48-year-old man in Effurun, but the victim confronted the suspect carrying the firearm, during which the gun broke and they took to their heels, abandoning the gun.
The incident was reported at the Ekpan Police Division, which immediately deployed operatives to the scene, where the broken locally made firearm was recovered.
The victim was later referred to a hospital for treatment as a result of injuries sustained while trying to take the gun from the suspect. The Police are on manhunt of the fleeing suspects.
CP Samuel Erale, Commissioner of Police in Delta State, commending the 48-year-old courageous man, who fought off the suspected criminals, assured the victim that the suspects will be tracked down and arrested.
