The Nigerian Army has stepped up efforts to improve the operational readiness and welfare of personnel serving at the 11 Brigade headquarters in Gboko, Benue State, with ongoing renovation and infrastructure development at the formation.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 5 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Moses Gara, disclosed this during an operational visit to the brigade, where he inspected accommodation facilities and reviewed the progress of ongoing projects.
Gara, who was accompanied by the Garrison Commander, 5 Division, Makurdi, Brigadier General MD Abdulsalam, and other senior officers from the division and Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (JTF OPWS), also assessed the welfare of troops and the brigade’s preparedness for its security responsibilities.
The inspection focused on the progress of the infrastructure works and the provision of essential facilities required to support personnel and improve their effectiveness in the area of operation.
Gara commended the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General AO Odubiyi, for maintaining the required standards at the formation.
He urged officers and soldiers to remain professional, dedicated and committed to their duties, particularly in supporting efforts to maintain peace and security within the brigade’s area of responsibility.
The development follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the creation of the 5 Division and four other divisions as part of measures to expand the Nigerian Army’s operational reach and strengthen its security presence across the country.
