President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, dismissing concerns over his health and declaring that he is ready to resume official duties.

Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday after concluding what the Presidency described as a working vacation.

Speaking with journalists after his arrival, the President said he enjoyed his trip and was prepared to return to work.

Responding to questions about concerns raised over his health during his absence, Tinubu said there was nothing wrong with him, describing himself as “healthy, sound, and ready to go.”

The President also attributed rumours surrounding his health to politics, saying such reports would continue to emerge.

Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week vacation, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris, France. His stay was later extended by several days.

During his time in Europe, the President held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and business leaders, while the Presidency maintained that he remained in contact with officials and continued to direct government affairs from abroad.

His return to Nigeria comes ahead of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1. Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for official engagements and anniversary activities before returning to Abuja.
