The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Abuja Operations Office, has distributed relief materials to residents affected by banditry and flooding in Egba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, to alleviate their hardship and address urgent humanitarian needs.

The intervention drew commendation from Senator Steve Sunday Karimi, Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, who praised Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Director General of NEMA, for responding to the plight of the affected communities.

Senator Karimi described the intervention as timely, noting that the relief materials would help ease the suffering of affected households and cushion the impact of the disasters.

The distribution covered assorted food and non-food items, including rice, beans, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, dignity packs, detergent and cement.

The exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), whose personnel supported beneficiary coordination, security and logistics to ensure an orderly distribution.

The intervention underscores NEMA’s continued efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected communities and support vulnerable households in recovering from the impact of emergencies.
