Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor has called for a constitutional amendment to allow a single five- or six-year term for political office holders in Nigeria.
Governor Makinde made the call at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan while receiving dignitaries who paid him Sallah homage following the Eid Kabir prayers held at the Agodi Eid Prayer Ground.
Governor Makinde emphasized that a single-term system would enhance governance by reducing the distractions and pressures associated with re-election campaigns, thereby promoting better service delivery and accountability.
Earlier the minister for power Bayo Adelabul charged Muslim faithfuls to imbibe the lessons learnt as a way of life.
He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful in the face of challenges.
Also speaking the member representing ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West at the house of representative Honourable Stanley Olajide encourage Nigerians on the need for selfless services, sacrifices and be obedient to the Almighty Allah.
