President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba and Kahir village, describing the incidents as barbaric and cowardly.

The President, in a statement issued on Tuesday, decried the killing of residents in Jos, Plateau State, and the attack on wedding guests in Kaduna State, which reportedly led to deaths and abductions.
Tinubu said the attacks were an affront to the nation’s values and assured Nigerians that those responsible would be brought to justice.
“Anyone who sneaks under the cover of darkness to kill defenceless citizens is a heartless coward. By targeting soft locations, the perpetrators seek not only to cause harm but to provoke reprisals and escalate violence,” he said.
He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the attackers and also warned against the spread of misinformation capable of worsening tensions. The President specifically cautioned sections of the media against framing the incidents as religiously motivated.
Tinubu reaffirmed that security agencies are actively responding to the situation and called for public cooperation, particularly in adhering to evacuation and safety advisories where necessary.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive by acting on early warning intelligence. All remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” he added, while noting the safe return of two victims.
The President commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their efforts in managing the crises and supporting rescue operations.
He also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, assuring that the Federal Government is acquiring advanced security equipment to enhance real-time tracking and response to criminal activities.
The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on March 31, 2026.
