Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have rescued a kidnap victim after killing four suspected kidnappers during a successful ambush operation in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The operation, according to a report by counter-insurgency and security analyst Zagazola Makama, was carried out at about 4:00 a.m. on July 22 by troops of Sector 1 stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Kaiama.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops reportedly laid an ambush at a known crossing point along the Jonloji Village riverine axis, where the suspected kidnappers were expected to pass.
The suspects engaged the troops in a gun battle, during which four of the alleged kidnappers were neutralised.
Following the operation, the troops rescued one abducted victim and recovered a pump-action shotgun, four motorcycles and ₦64,000 suspected to belong to the criminal gang.
The rescued victim was immediately evacuated to Kaiama General Hospital for medical attention.
The operation is part of the ongoing Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, a military campaign aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates and other criminal networks operating in Kwara State and neighbouring areas.
Security forces have continued offensive operations across the region as part of efforts to curb insecurity and safeguard lives and property.
