Ogun Police Intensify ‘Operation No Traffic Gridlock’, Enforce Zero Tolerance for Road Obstruction

The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its ongoing “Operation No Traffic Gridlock,” warning motorists, traders, and transport operators against actions that obstruct traffic across the state.

In a statement issued on April 11, 2026, the command said persistent gridlock in areas such as Sango Ota and Sagamu is largely caused by illegal parking, roadside trading, and indiscriminate stopping of vehicles on major roads.

The police described such practices as unacceptable and cautioned road users to desist from double parking, loading and offloading passengers on active lanes, and displaying goods on roads and walkways.

According to the command, the operation is already in full swing, with personnel of the Motor Traffic Department, Area Traffic Officers, and Divisional Traffic Officers deployed to strategic locations across Sango Ota, Sagamu, Mowe, Ifo, and other parts of the state to ensure strict compliance.

Motorists were directed to use only designated parking areas when picking up or dropping off passengers, while traders were advised to confine their activities to approved market spaces.

The command also acknowledged ongoing road construction in Sango Ota and Sagamu, noting that while the projects may contribute to traffic congestion, adherence to traffic regulations would significantly ease movement.

It added that traffic gridlock in Mowe and Ifo had already been cleared, assuring residents that the progress would be sustained.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, ordered full enforcement of the operation and warned that violators would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring safety, order, and free flow of traffic, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in addressing congestion.

The police also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free number and other designated contacts.
