President Alassane Ouattara has been declared the winner of the presidential election in Ivory Coast, securing 89.77% of the vote.
The election, held on Saturday, saw nearly nine million eligible voters cast their ballots. Ouattara’s two main rivals were barred from contesting the election, which was marked by heightened tensions and deadly violence in the lead-up.

The electoral commission announced the results on Monday, with Ouattara winning a decisive majority of the vote.
Early tallies on Sunday had indicated a landslide victory for Ouattara, with voter turnout reported to be nearly 100% in his northern strongholds.
The opposition had expressed concerns over the legitimacy of the election, citing the exclusion of major candidates.
