The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for professional misconduct and arrested 12 suspects for critical infrastructure vandalism and illegal arms dealing.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, Corps National Public Relations Officer.
Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General said the actions demonstrate the Corps’ commitment to institutional transparency, public safety, and zero tolerance for compromise.
According to the statement, disciplinary proceedings were concluded for 75 personnel under the Public Service Rules and NSCDC Conditions of Service. The breakdown includes:
1 Assistant Commandant General, 2 Deputy Commandants, 35 senior officers, and 37 junior officers.
Established infractions include job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave, and acts prejudicial to state security. Sanctions range from dismissal, compulsory retirement, to recommendation for criminal prosecution.
The Corps cited the 18 February 2026 incident at Rafin Gabas, Kokona LGA, Nasarawa State, where Mining Marshals Location Commander Levi Agada was killed Two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, were dismissed and recommended for prosecution for engaging suspected illegal miners with unauthorized firearms.
Four other personnel are undergoing disciplinary proceedings by the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, alongside the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police, over alleged illegal arms dealing.
Nine suspects were also arrested across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, Niger States, and the FCT for illegal firearm and ammunition dealing. Named are Friday Nnanna Ujor, 51, Chika Sampson Nwozaku, 48, Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, 45, Nnanna Fountain, Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu, and three NSCDC officers: Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi, Enugu Command; Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna, Ebonyi Command; and Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson, Ebonyi Command.
Superintendent Achor Favour, Nasarawa Command, is also facing administrative disciplinary proceedings over alleged mistreatment and negligence of a teenage domestic helper, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
On protection of critical assets, operatives arrested six suspected vandals with a full trailer load of railway sleepers at Sabon Wuse on 25th July 2026. The items were concealed in a blue DAF trailer, registration number ZAR 618 XT.
A two-man vandal syndicate, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe from Toto and Basa LGAs, Nasarawa State, was also arrested for electrical and cable vandalism in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT.
The Corps said the actions of the sanctioned personnel do not reflect the integrity of the majority of NSCDC officers. It urged the public to remain vigilant and provide actionable intelligence.
All suspects and affected personnel retain their constitutional rights to due process as proceedings continue.
