The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against kidnapping and organised crime with the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation.
The recovery followed a sustained investigation into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits. The suspects were earlier paraded at the FCT Police Command Headquarters on July 11, 2026.
According to the Command, operatives of its Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out a follow-up operation on August 2, 2026, based on credible intelligence provided by one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq.
The intelligence led the operatives to Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states, where investigations revealed that the criminal syndicate maintained one of its operational hideouts.
Police investigations further established that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
A thorough search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed within the forest camp.
The Police said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the network and ensure that all those involved are brought before the court.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing in tackling violent crimes across the Federal Capital Territory.
He assured residents that ongoing operations would continue until every member of the syndicate is apprehended and brought to justice.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command emergency lines.
The latest recovery underscores the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in the supply of illegal arms to bandit groups and other violent criminals operating within and beyond the FCT.
