The authorities in Cameroun have assured that the country’s President, Paul Biya is well and alive.
Rene Emmanuel Sadi, Cameroun Minister of Communications in a statement read on state radio said the President is in good health and will be back in the country any moment from now.
Similarly, André Magnus Ekoumou, Cameroun’s ambassador to France, also issued a statement saying that President Paul Biya has never been hospitalised in Clamart or anywhere in France as being speculated expressing his displeasure at the spread of rumours.
The Ambassador said the President is currently in Geneva, Switzerland.
In the meantime Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona said government will go after those who are trying, by various means, to deceive public opinion by announcing the death of the president and head of state, Paul Biya.
He said appropriate institutions must take action against the rumour mongers no matter their origin or location.
