The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce conducted a midnight operation on August 20, 2025, arresting 32 suspected drug abusers in Agidingbi and Ikeja GRA. The operation began around 1 a.m. and focused on hotspots known for harboring undesirable elements.

Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab shared the outcomes of the operation, specifying the locations targeted during the enforcement exercise. The areas raided included Alausa CBD, NERDC Road, Alhaja Ashabi Cole Street, the frontage of the African Shrine in Agidingbi, Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Shobo Arobiodu, Isaac John Street, and Oba Akinjobi Road in Ikeja GRA.
During the raid, 32 suspects were arrested, comprising 25 males and 7 females. They were found in possession of hard and illicit drugs suspected to be Indian hemp, codeine, and other narcotic substances. The suspects will face appropriate charges in court.
The operation aimed to restore sanity in the affected areas, which had been plagued by illicit activities. The Lagos State Government is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for its citizens.
The taskforce’s efforts demonstrate the government’s determination to tackle the issue of drug abuse and trafficking in the state. The operation’s success is a testament to the effectiveness of the government’s strategies in maintaining law and order in Lagos.
