The Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against a police officer captured in a viral social media video displaying conduct described as inconsistent with the standards of the Force.

The officer, identified as a Sergeant attached to the Ikole-Ekiti Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekiti State, was immediately identified and taken into custody following the circulation of the footage online.
The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Falade Adegoroye Michael, directed that the officer undergo a comprehensive psychological and medical evaluation as part of the disciplinary process.
According to the police, the assessment is a mandatory procedure intended to address both the alleged misconduct and any possible underlying health concerns before formal disciplinary measures are concluded.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, condemned the conduct displayed in the video, describing it as a gross departure from the discipline, professionalism, and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.
The police reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against substance abuse and any behaviour capable of undermining public confidence in the institution or tarnishing the image of the police uniform.
