The Ondo State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations, assuring residents of adequate protection before, during and after the festivities.

In a statement issued on Monday, the command said the security measures were put in place under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, to guarantee peaceful and crime-free celebrations across the state.
The command disclosed that personnel and operational assets had been strategically deployed to critical locations, including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, highways and other public facilities expected to witness increased activities during the festive period.
According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the deployment includes operatives from tactical units, the Police Mobile Force, intelligence units, anti-kidnapping squads, surveillance teams and traffic units.
The command added that operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Violence Crime Response Unit and traffic management teams had also been placed on high alert to ensure effective crowd control, rapid emergency response and smooth traffic flow.
The police further revealed that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of tactical teams had been directed to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, stop-and-search operations, confidence-building patrols and strategic surveillance across their jurisdictions.
Special attention, the command noted, is being given to flashpoints, black spots and vulnerable communities to proactively prevent criminal activities and maintain public order.
The statement said the security arrangement aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen the protection of lives and property nationwide.
While congratulating Muslim faithful ahead of Eid-el-Kabir, the command also joined families, schools and children in commemorating this year’s Children’s Day celebration.
The police described children as critical stakeholders in nation-building and urged parents, guardians and educational institutions to continue nurturing them in safe and morally sound environments.
The Commissioner of Police warned criminal elements against any attempt to disrupt public peace, stressing that the command remained fully prepared to deal decisively with all forms of criminality in accordance with the law.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency response channels.
