The Nigeria Police Force has warned police recruitment candidates against a fake notice circulating online claiming that training had commenced for 50,000 newly recruited constables.
The Force described the document as fraudulent, stressing that it was neither issued nor authorised by the Nigeria Police Force.
The fake notice had claimed that Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, directed the commencement of training for the purported recruits.
It also carried the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, as the issuer.
However, in a statement on Friday, Iniedu dismissed the report as false and urged members of the public, particularly recruitment candidates, to disregard it.
“The document is false and was neither issued nor authorised by the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement said.
The Force advised recruitment candidates to rely only on information published through the official police recruitment portal and verified communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force.
The police further disclosed that it had commenced efforts to identify those responsible for producing and circulating the fake document.
According to the Force, anyone found culpable would face appropriate legal action.
The development comes amid ongoing concerns over the circulation of fake recruitment-related information on social media, with the police urging candidates to verify recruitment updates through official channels before acting on them.
