The Ogun State Police Command has recorded multiple breakthroughs in separate intelligence-led operations across the state, leading to the arrest of a father and son alongside three other suspects, as well as the recovery of four firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.

The Command disclosed that the operations, carried out by operatives from different divisions, resulted in the recovery of one locally made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns, and one live cartridge.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, operatives attached to the Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a report of theft received on May 22, 2026.
The police said Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives swiftly tracked and recovered the stolen phone. Further discreet investigation led to a search of the suspects’ residence conducted pursuant to a duly obtained warrant, during which a locally made pistol and a dane gun were recovered,” the statement said.
The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement and possible accomplices.
In another development, operatives of the Ilisan Remo Division reportedly recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol around the Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27.
The firearm, according to the police, was discovered abandoned and has since been deposited in the division’s armoury while efforts continue to trace its ownership.
Similarly, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Inioluwa Adesanya, over the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode Remo.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s residence under the guise of being a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work before stealing the firearm.
The police said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity, adding that the firearm had been modified for concealment.
The recovered dane gun has been secured as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody pending transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, reiterating the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
