The Ondo State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting a security threat in Odigbo Local Government Area, assuring residents that there has been no breach of security or incident warranting the closure of schools in the area.

The statement was signed by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command.

According to the statement , the Command said there was no credible intelligence indicating any terrorist threat or imminent danger to public safety in Odigbo or its surrounding communities.

The clarification followed concerns and unverified reports circulating in some quarters, prompting fears among residents and parents.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command’s ongoing security assessments and intelligence gathering have not revealed any threat capable of causing panic or disrupting normal activities within the local government area.

Despite the assurance, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical commanders, and intelligence units across the state to maintain heightened surveillance, visibility policing, and intelligence operations.

The directive, the statement noted, places particular emphasis on schools, public facilities, critical national assets, and other vulnerable locations.

The police urged residents, students, and members of the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear or apprehension, stressing that the state’s security architecture remains robust and effective.

“The security agencies are continuously monitoring developments and are prepared to respond proactively to any emerging concerns,” the statement said.

The Command also warned against the spread of misinformation and unverified reports, noting that such actions could create unnecessary panic, anxiety, and undermine public confidence in security institutions.

Residents were advised to rely only on information disseminated through official channels and refrain from sharing rumours capable of causing public alarm.

The Commissioner of Police further appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.

He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and that public cooperation remains vital to sustaining the peace and stability currently enjoyed across Ondo State.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and pledged to continue working closely with relevant stakeholders to maintain law, order, and public safety throughout the state.
