IGP Disu Deploys AIG to Plateau for Security Assessment, Reinforces Operations in Bokkos

IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, to Plateau State for an operational assessment following recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The statement was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, on June 25, 2026.

The deployment, according to the Nigeria Police Force, forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations, assess the situation on the ground, and restore peace in affected communities.

During the visit on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, AIG Morris toured Kawel Community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, where he engaged traditional rulers, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders to evaluate the security challenges and reinforce ongoing measures aimed at preventing further violence.

Conveying the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police and the Force Management Team, the AIG sympathised with families who lost loved ones in the attacks and assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring justice for victims.

He stated that security agencies are deploying all lawful and necessary measures to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the attacks, while intensifying efforts to prevent any recurrence.

AIG Morris also disclosed that, on the directive of the IGP, additional security personnel and operational assets have been deployed to Plateau State, particularly to communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, to bolster existing operations and enhance security presence in vulnerable locations.

He urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, cautioning against reprisals or actions capable of undermining ongoing peacebuilding and security efforts.

As part of his engagement, the AIG paid courtesy visits to the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR. During the meetings, he conveyed the condolences of the police leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborating with the state government and traditional institutions in addressing security challenges across Plateau State.

The Force reiterated its commitment to working closely with relevant stakeholders, local communities, and other security agencies to protect lives and property, maintain public safety, and support lasting peace in Plateau State and across the country.
