President Donald Trump of the United States (U.S.) has adopted sophisticated diplomatic cash incentives to deport immigrants out of the U.S. to another country that is not their home country.
It started as warnings of possible U.S. visa restrictions targeting several African countries. Soon, the policy escalated into a much broader state action.
The U.S. government, under the Trump administration, began relocating migrants from different parts of the world to various African nations. In many cases, these deals came with financial incentives meant to persuade the host governments to accept the deportees.
A 43-year-old Pheap Rom from Cambodia was deported to Eswatini, a small landlocked country in Southern Africa, ruled by King Mswati III, a dictatorial leader. Eswatini is known for operating one of the region’s most severe high-security prisons.
