The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) in the 2027 general elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has promised to reopen Nigerian borders with Republic of Benin, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
His intention is to reopen trans-border trade, which, perhaps, may bring down prices of food items and open business opportunities for youths beside others.
Atiku Abubakar, accordingly, declared: “The Northern states bordering Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic have suffered greatly from the closure of these borders. Many young people engaged in legitimate cross-border trade have been pushed into bankruptcy. That is why I said I would reopen the borders.”
