Blessing Albert Ebhodaghe, The Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, has begun mobilising commercial drivers in the council area ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Albert made the call during a visit to a motor park in Ekpoma, where he distributed All Progressives Congress (APC)-branded caps to commercial drivers and warned them against wearing political materials belonging to opposition parties.
In a video circulating online, the council chairman said the mobilisation was connected to Governor Okpebholo’s pledge to deliver 2.5 million votes from Edo State for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Albert also linked his appeal to road projects in the state, telling the drivers that improved roads had made it easier for them to travel to destinations such as Onitsha and return to Edo to continue their businesses.
He described the support for the governor and the President as a way of reciprocating what he said were benefits the administration had provided to commercial drivers.
However, the chairman also issued a warning over the use of opposition party symbols at the motor park. He said drivers who wore caps or other political materials not associated with the APC could be denied access to the park or removed from it.
The development comes as political mobilisation begins ahead of the 2027 elections, with the APC and its officials in Edo already publicly backing Tinubu’s re-election bid.
