Troops Dislodge Terrorists, Recover High Calibre Weapons in Sokoto

Troops of The Special Intervention Battalion 7, Sector-II, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dislodged terrorist and recovered Machine Gun, other high calibre Weapons, Ammunition and Motorcycles during clearance operations in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operations were part of ongoing offensive efforts to clear terrorist enclaves and deny criminal elements freedom of action across the North-West.

A statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 8 Division, Nigerian Army /Sector-II operation Fansan Yamma says, during the operation, troops advanced through identified terrorist threat enclaves, including Manu, Alkasim and Kandam villages, as well as the Magarya Forest axis.

It adds that at the Magarya Forest enclave, troops engaged them with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.

It further states that Troops’ follow-up operations and a thorough search of the general Area led to the recovery of significant arms, ammunition and mobility assets.

Items recovered include one PKT Machine Gun, AK-47 rifles, a large quantity of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, Motorcycles, as well as assorted logistical and miscellaneous items.

Currently, the Troops have maintained a strong operational presence in the area to ensure the security of surrounding Communities.
