A 43-year-old man, Edebiri Temitope, has been arrested by the police in connection with the death of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, in Mowe, Ogun State.
Eje, a university graduate with a degree in Guidance and Counselling, was reportedly beaten during an altercation after he was accused of hugging and playing with his neighbour’s three-year-old child.
According to reports, the child’s father allegedly became upset over what he described as Eje’s “rough play” with the child. He was said to have picked up a bamboo stick and repeatedly struck the 38-year-old, who subsequently collapsed and died.
The suspect was initially reported to have fled the area with his family after the incident.
However, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Temitope, 43, has now been arrested in connection with the death of Oje Michael Eje.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The police are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the appropriate charges based on the outcome of the investigation.
