President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage commonly known as the lesser Hajj.
The President departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after inaugurating some newly acquired equipment for the Nigerian Air Force.
During his stay in Saudi Arabia, Tinubu is expected to engage in spiritual reflection and devotion, as well as offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.
Accompanying the President on the trip are the governors of Kwara, Borno, Kaduna, Sokoto, Jigawa and Yobe states, alongside some ministers.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, said Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise.
