The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, and one Sadiq Jamiu over the alleged theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of Abuja.

The Command said the principal suspect, who hails from Oji River, Enugu State, but resides in Benue State, identified himself as a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry in the North Bank area of the state.

According to the police, Nwabueze was arrested at his residence on October 27, 2026, following sustained investigations. He subsequently led operatives to another location, where his alleged accomplice, Jamiu, was also arrested.

The police disclosed that preliminary investigations had linked the principal suspect to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command over vehicle theft cases.

Further findings, according to the Command, indicated that the suspects were members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate allegedly involved in stealing and selling vehicles across different states.

The police said investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and apprehend other members who were still at large.

The Command added that the suspects remained in police custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police urged residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency numbers: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
