UNILAG appoints two external Senate Members

University of Lagos Senate has appointed two External Members to help bridge the gap between town and gown.

The external members are: Engr. (Dr.) Bamidele Osuolale Makanjuola, Chairman, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc., and Mr. Temitope Samuel Folorunso Smart, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NEM Insurance (Nigeria) Plc. and President, African Insurance Organisation.

The decision is In line with the provisions of Schedule 4, Article 3 (1)(h) of the University of Lagos Act 1967 as amended, the Senate, at its meeting of January 26, 2022, appointed these two accomplished professionals to its membership.

Dr. Bamidele Makanjuola is a first class graduate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) who also holds a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Loughborough University of Technology in the United Kingdom. A thoroughbred corporate executive and industrialist, Dr. Makanjuola has over 30 years’ experience in Process Management and Leadership.
Mr. Temitope Smart, a renown captain of the Insurance industry in Nigeria and across Africa, is a distinguished alumnus of the Department of Insurance of the University of Lagos. He also holds an MBA from the University of Lagos He has over 30 years experience in Insurance, Leadership, Management and Investment.

These seasoned executives will bridge the gap between town and gown by infusing their wealth of experience in leadership from the corporate world into the University system.
