Francis Fadahunsi, Senator representing Osun East in the National Assembly, has appeared at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo following an invitation over an alleged threat against members of the Accord Party.
Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 pm in the company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Etaifo.
The senator and the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Francis Eniade, had come under criticism following comments allegedly made against Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The controversy followed a video circulated on social media on Tuesday in which Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, allegedly said any Accord member sighted in Ilesa before the election should be killed.
The alleged comments prompted calls for police intervention and investigation into the matter.
Fadahunsi’s appearance at the command headquarters came after the police invited him to clarify the circumstances surrounding the statement.
The police have not disclosed details of his interaction with investigators or stated whether any charges have been filed.
The development comes ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with security agencies expected to intensify measures to prevent violence and maintain peace before, during and after the poll.
