The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Appropriation, Hon James Faleke, has formally set in motion the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu by obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on his behalf ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Faleke represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber and also serves as the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups.
He completed the purchase and collection of the Presidential forms valued at N100 million, a move that formally signals the commencement of Tinubu’s campaign for a second term in office.
At a brief ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja, the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, declared the process open and presented the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Faleke.
Faleke’s action underscores growing mobilisation within the ruling party as political actors begin to align ahead of the 2027 polls, with the procurement of nomination forms widely regarded as a formal declaration of intent to contest.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already outlined the timetable for the elections.
According to the commission, Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that party primaries, including the resolution of related disputes, will run from April 23, 2026, to May 30, 2026, setting the stage for political parties to finalise their candidates.
Campaign activities for the presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026, in line with the commission’s electoral guidelines.
The APC had fixed the total cost for its Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at ₦100million, as the party released its revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Elections.
According to the document signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, and released on Monday in Abuja, the party has structured its primary election fees across five elective categories.
While the Presidential forms hit the ₦100m mark, the Governorship forms are priced at ₦50m, Senate at ₦20m, House of Representatives at ₦10m, and State House of Assembly at ₦6m.
