The Lagos State House of Assembly has announced the removal of Barrister Olalekan Onafeko as Clerk of the House.

Onafeko had served in the position since January 14, 2022, after previously acting in the role from September 29, 2020.

His appointment followed the retirement of the former Clerk, as announced at the time by Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, who noted that the House needed to fill the vacant position promptly.

Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, said Onafeko’s removal was due to the expiration of his tenure.

Obasa subsequently announced the appointment of Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk of the House.

In a related development, the Assembly confirmed Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), while Remi Bello was also confirmed as a member of the Commission.
