Sanwo-Olu Not Asked to Resign, Lagos Govt Dismisses Report as False

By our Reporter

The Lagos State Government has dismissed as false a report alleging that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was asked to resign on health grounds.

In a statement, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, described the report by Sahara Reporters as entirely untrue and misleading.

He stated that no individual or authority had directed the governor to step down, stressing that Sanwo-Olu remains in good health, mentally sound, and fully engaged in his official duties.

Akosile further disclosed that earlier in the day, the Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, paid a courtesy visit to the governor to formally inform him of his intention to contest the governorship position.

According to the statement, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, in line with established political tradition.

The state government expressed concern over what it described as a pattern of disinformation by the online platform and said the clarification became necessary to prevent the public from being misled.

Residents were urged to disregard the report and treat it as fake news, while relying on official channels for accurate information.
