Operatives of the Obantoko Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected “one-chance” robbers terrorising Obantoko and its surrounding areas, while also recovering a stolen iPhone 12 Pro and other mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from victims.

The suspects, identified as Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak, were apprehended following a distress call received by the division on May 28, 2026, at about 5:15 p.m. concerning a robbery incident involving a female victim and her two sisters.
According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that the victims boarded a Nissan Micra taxi from the Somorin area heading to NNPC Kuto. However, upon reaching the OLG Somorin axis, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly deviated from the agreed route, became violent, and forcefully dispossessed the victims of their belongings before pushing them out of the vehicle.
Shortly after the incident, one of the victims discovered that her iPhone 12 Pro had been stolen and immediately raised an alarm.
Detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, in collaboration with vigilant residents, swiftly mobilised to the scene and successfully arrested the two suspects, while the operational vehicle reportedly escaped.
The police said their prompt intervention prevented an attempted mob action by angry residents who had gathered at the scene.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. Police also recovered the stolen iPhone 12 Pro and other mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from different victims.
The recovered iPhone 12 Pro has since been released to its owner on bond, while the suspects remain in custody pending the conclusion of investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended officers of the Obantoko Division and members of the public for their swift response and cooperation, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen property.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention across the state.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
