Police Arrest 8 Notorious Cultists Terrorizing University Students, 3 Vandals In Bayelsa

The Police arrested 8 suspected cultists notorious for terrorizing students of the Niger Delta University, Amasoma, Bayelsa State.

Musa Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Bayelsa State command in a statement, indicated that the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit intervened to contain the activities of the notorious cult group.

The PPRO narrated that the suspects comprising six students of the Niger Delta University, and two others, were apprehended in a hotel, after causing bodily harm to a 300-level student of the institution on the allegation that the victim was owing N70,000.

The distress call, according to the PPRO, led to storming of the hotel in Yenagoa metropolis where the suspects were apprehended with exhibits, such as wraps of Indian hemps, Swinol and Charms.

In a related development, three suspects who specialize in vandalism of government properties were arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command.

The suspects were arrested for stealing power generators, a lathe machine, and an electric filing machine belonging to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Labour, Empowerment, and Productivity.

The 3 suspects, as well as the 8 suspected cultists, are expected to be prosecuted accordingly after investigation.
