The House of Representatives on Tuesday resumed plenary after a two-month recess, swearing in three newly elected members who emerged victorious in the recent by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen administered the oath of office to Igbinedion Omosede Gabriella, representing Ovia Southwest Federal Constituency of Edo State, who replaced Dennis Idahosa, now the deputy governor of Edo State; Rabiu Mukhtar, representing Garki/Babura Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, who succeeded the late Hon. Isa Dogonyaro; and Felix Joseph Bagudu, representing Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, who replaced the late Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams of the Labour Party.

Two other lawmakers-elect Hon Elegbeji Adesola Yetunde Ayoola of Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, who replaced the late Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Omowumi Onanuga, and Hon Oyekunle Fola Sunday of Ibadan North Federal Constituency in Oyo State, who replaced the late Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi were, however, absent from the plenary.

Following the swearing-in, the House went into a closed-door session to deliberate on key issues expected to shape its legislative agenda in the coming weeks
