Frank Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany has commended President Bola Tinubu for the excellent relations between the two countries especially their State to State visits and frequent meetings at the sidelines of multi lateral fora. He also talked on the expeditious processing of The Designate – incoming German Ambassador to Nigeria, to replace the re – designated incumbent.

A statement by Senator Ita Solomon Enang, Nigeria Ambassador to Germany, indicates that the Bilateral discussions centred, among others on Economic relations, the power sector, and in particular the off grid Technology, the Siemens power, Agricultural, food and citizen diplomacy, Migration and Consular matters, particularly provisions for Skilled Nigerians in Medical, Technology, I T, AI, and sundry skills, crafts, etc all to be engaged in the varied sectors of the German economy through formal purposed Nigeria – Germany migration agreement to be negotiated.
It further discloses that the leadership role of Nigeria and President Tinubu in ECOWAS and the need to court back into the forum The Nation States now off the forum including other Sahelian States because of the Regional and Continental security advantages of State to State coordination.
And bringing to Nigeria Automobile Assembly plants to now Assemble cars, Trucks and machineries in Country Nigeria instead of exporting to Nigeria completely Assembled Automobiles, to build capacity of Nigerians and transfer technology
It notes that the Guarantor role Germany played in The Green Tree Agreement after the Judgment of The International Court of Justice on the Land and Maritime boundary between Nigeria and Cameroon, including The Bakasi, and the boundary demarcation causing displacement of populations and humanitarian issues in both Countries were also discussed.
The interest of German firms in trapping the Gas being flared in the Niger Delta Region and other fields to convert for Electricity, including Nigeria Oil in the German economy was also discussed.
The Ambassador expressed the appreciation of the Federal Government of Nigeria for the donation of money conveyed by The German Foreign Minister , Johann Wadephul as humanitarian aid to Nigeria at the recent Courtesy call on the. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu
While appreciating the gains of previous visits to each other, and their personal good relations between President BOLA TINUBU and Federal President FRANK – WALTER STEINMEIER The need for further Nation State to State visits of equals was also discussed.
Other State peculiar subjects were also discussed, at the audience which was attended by Designate Federal Ministers and named cabinet members of the German Federal Government.
The Bilateral recessed with memorabilia with the officers of the German Federal Foreign office & Bundesrepublik Deutschland, The Nigeria Mission in Berlin and delegation.
