Tinubu, Obasanjo, Jonathan, Others Attend Gbenga Daniel’s Book Launch at 70

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, joined former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, alongside other dignitaries, at the book presentation of Senator Gbenga Daniel in Abuja.

The event, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, was part of activities marking the 70th birthday of the former Ogun State governor.

Speaking at the occasion, Jonathan emphasised the importance of the judiciary, describing it as the last hope of the common man, and urged judges to remain fair and impartial. He also raised concerns about prolonged litigation processes, particularly in electoral matters, noting that reforms are needed to ensure timely justice.

Jonathan further described Daniel as a perfect gentleman, recalling his role as South-West zonal coordinator during his re-election campaign.

In his remarks, Senator Daniel paid tribute to Obasanjo, describing him as a “President of Presidents” and acknowledging his influence in his emergence as governor of Ogun State.

Daniel also called for pragmatic solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges, stressing the need for leaders to prioritise sustainable strategies. He added that young people must be productively engaged through vocational training, sports, information technology, and other viable economic opportunities.

The event featured the review of four books authored by the celebrant. Dr Reuben Abati reviewed Daniel in the Lion’s Den and Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the Eyes of Time, while Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire reviewed My March Through the Courts. Barrister Babatunde Ogala reviewed Path to Justice.

Other notable personalities at the event included the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Minister of State for Health, Isiak Adekunle Salako; Minister of Communications, Bosun Tijani; Senator Adams Oshiomhole; Senator Ireti Kingibe; Senator Natasha Akpoti; Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare; Otunba Segun Sowunmi; the Akarigbo of Remoland, Babatunde Adewale Ajayi; Senator Tokunbo Abiru; and Pastor Akin Osinbajo, among others.
