The Nigeria Police Force in Borno State has confirmed that twenty-three people were killed and more than one hundred others injured in a series of explosions in Maiduguri on Monday.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command said the suspected suicide improvised explosive device attacks occurred at about 7:24 p.m. at three locations — the Maiduguri Monday Market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover Maiduguri.
Police say 108 people sustained varying degrees of injuries and were evacuated to medical facilities for treatment by emergency responders.
Security agencies, including the police and military, were swiftly deployed to the affected areas, while the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit carried out sweep operations to rule out additional threats.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Naziru Abdulmajid, has since visited the scenes of the explosions and assured residents that security has been heightened across the city, while investigations into the attacks continue.
