Mr Sunday Dare,Minister of Youth and Sports Development,made this known on Saturday evening while speaking at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, during the closing ceremony of the 21st National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022.
He also said Oyo State will be on standby in case the main host will not be ready for the Games in the next one year.
It will be recalled that Ogun State first hosted the biennial sports fiesta dubbed Nigeria’s version of the Olympics in 2006 tagged Gateway Games.
The Sports Minister congratulated Team Delta on the historic defence of the title it won at Edo 2020, as he urged other states to keep working hard to if possible dethrone Delta someday.
Meanwhile, Team Delta successfully defended the NSF title after the 10-day battle for honours in Asaba.
Team Delta finished tops with 320 gold, 200 silver and 128 bronze medals far ahead of Team Bayelsa which amassede 132 gold, 115 silver and 90 bronze medals as Team Edo placed third on the final medals table with 78 gold, 94 silver and 167 bronze medals.
It was also a glorious outing by Team Oyo as it placed fourth with 50 gold, 51 silver and 62 bronze medals ahead of renowned teams at NSF including Lagos and Rivers states.
