EX-NASARAWA DEPUTY GOV, GYE-WADO FREED AFTER N4M RANSOM FROM KIDNAPPERS

Professor Onje Gye-Wado, former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, who was kidnapped in his village in Rinza of Wamba local government area of Nasarawa state last Thursday, was released yesterday after an N4 million ransom was paid.

Nansel Nimyel, the commissioner of the Nasarawa State Police, was cited by Channels Television as confirming the former deputy governor’s release.

The family source was cited by Daily Trust Newspaper as stating that the kidnappers picked up the ransom and a 200 naira recharge card near Mada Hills Secondary School in Akwanga.

In consequence, Gye-Wado was liberated from the kidnappers’ hideout not far from Angwan Chiyawa, close to the highlands between Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon.

After securing freedom, he was brought back to the palace of Oriye Rindre, Judge Lawal Musa Nagogo, the supreme monarch of Wamba.
